Legislative Process
The legislative process, while sometimes
arcane and deemed “inside-baseball”, determines
the fate of many public policies. Legislative rules and openness
can dictate whether a bill is ever heard, whether it reaches
the House or Senate floor for a full vote and whether the public
is allowed to witness policy debates.
Boiled down, the legislative process is the
heart of the public policy process. That’s why the Coalition
believes that we must work to ensure that the legislative process
is fair, open and accountable to the public.
The closed-door maneuverings and the last-minute
changes damage the integrity of the political process and changes
to the legislative process are needed.
