backs Redistricting Reform
On
October 24, 2006, The NC Coalition for Lobbying & Government
Reform held four press conferences across the state in Asheville,
Wilmington], Raleigh, and Charlotte to kick off its redistricting
reform campaign.
Coalition members and speakers fanned
out across the state to unveil the Coalition’s new campaign
for changes to the way North Carolina draws its districts. Speakers
spoke about the need for an alternative to the current partisan
redistricting process in which the majority party draws the
districts every 10 years to keep the party in power. The headlining
speakers were:
