Legislative Updates

The 2009 legislative session is now well underway and everyone’s rushing to file bills before bill filing deadlines.

The Coalition is currently working to push the following agenda items:

  • Ending Pay to Play in NC state government
  • Increasing Disclosure on political fundraising by appointees to Boards and Commissions
  • Slowing the Revolving Door for executive branch employees
  • Creating a Model code of ethics for local government officials
  • Supporting the broadcasting of sessions of the NC General Assembly
  • Making the Legislative Ethics Committee a standing committee of the NC General Assembly

We’ll keep you updated as bills are filed and we have bill numbers to go along with our policy suggestions.

Until then, it’s critical that you contact your legislator to let them know that these reforms are needed!
